Lewis Davis bags eight goals as reigning premiers Gnowangerup record six straight wins in OFA season

Gnowangerup remain undefeated in the Ongerup Football Association league competition after their emphatic 55-point win over Boxwood Hill on Saturday.

The Bulldogs led by a slender five points at the first change at Boxwood Hill but outscored their opponents nine goals to two in the remaining three quarters to assert their dominance on top of the OFA ladder.

The rampaging Bulldogs were helped on their way by towering forward Lewis Davis, who booted eight goals in the contest, taking his season tally to an impressive 44 majors.

Bulldogs players Tyler Caldwell (two goals) and Liam Phillips (three goals) were also contributors in the convincing 15.13 (103) to 7.6 (48) victory.

Midfielder Fraser House was superb for the winners, awarded the match ball by the umpires in the Regional Men’s Health Round.

Boxwood were best served by Hayden Richter, Brett Plane and George Bungey while Matthew Fregon was the only multiple goal kicker for the home side.

In the other league fixture, Newdegate kept Jerramungup winless this season, overcoming the Eagles by 43 points in Newdegate.

The Eagles were held scoreless for the entire first half as the Lions opened up a 48-point advantage going into the main break.

Despite the Eagles kicking four second-half goals, they slumped to their fifth defeat of the season, 4.12 (36) to 11.13 (79).

Nelson Kent (four goals), Tristan Ballard and Riley Bridger were all outstanding for the Lions.

Darcy Webb, Jayden Brooks and Wade Brown toiled hard for the visitors while Andrew Solomon-Maere also chipped in with two goals in the defeat.
