Denmark’s Parris Laurie and the Fremantle Dockers have powered to a maiden AFLW finals appearance after defeating North Melbourne at Fremantle Oval on Saturday, finishing second on the Conference A ladder.

Laurie has enjoyed a terrific debut season with the Dockers, playing in all seven regular games as they finished with a 6-1 record to stitch up second place in the hotly contested Conference A.

The Dockers, however, will be forced to travel for this weekend’s preliminary final against Carlton, who topped Conference B, in Melbourne, in their bid for a historic first AFLW grand final appearance.

It was another solid performance from Laurie in the ruck as she collected 12 disposals, three marks and three tackles in the Dockers’ triumph, 7.10 (52) to 4.1 (25).

The 24-year-old is averaging 10 disposals a game and is giving the Dockers great mobility at stoppages.

The win was set up by a four-goal to one first-half at home, as the Dockers continued their fantastic start under first-year coach Trent Cooper.

The Dockers will face the Blues in the preliminary final at Ikon Park on Saturday afternoon, with bouncedown at 11.45pm WA time.
