Kukerin man charged after 14 street signs allegedly knocked down in Bremer Bay

A 30-year-old Kukerin man allegedly knocked down 14 street signs in Bremer Bay last month. Police will allege the man was driving a Toyota Hilux when he caused the damage in the early hours of the morning on Monday, June 8. The damage to the signs — some owned by the Shire and some by Main Roads WA — has been valued at almost $8000. They were situated between the Bremer Bay Caravan Park and the town’s wharf. The Kukerin man has been charged with two counts of criminal damage and one count of dangerous driving. Sergeant Simon Bickers from Jerramungup Police said the charges came as a result of information from Bremer Bay locals and CCTV vision. “It’s created quite a stir in Bremer Bay," Sgt Bickers said. “The locals down there are not happy...to the point that the people he was staying with were asked not to come back to Bremer Bay.” The 30-year-old is due to face Albany Magistrate's Court on July 30.
