Juggernauts Mt Barker and Denmark A advance to semifinals in GSSA women’s division one cup competition

Mt Barker have advanced to the semifinals of the Great Southern Soccer Association women’s division one cup competition, overpowering Phoenix to emerge as 4-1 victors on Friday night.
Melanie Greeney helped fire the winners home, while Casey Morris and Lowana Winter chipped in with a goal apiece in the quarterfinal.

Mt Barker have been in scintillating form in the GSSA women’s division one competition and are yet to lose a game, while powerhouse Denmark A also remain undefeated.
Denmark A carried their form from the league to the cup in their quarterfinal clash with the Caledonians.
A Taylah Masterlerz hat-trick helped cement Denmark A’s spot in the semifinals after trouncing the Caledonians 5-1. Eloise Garland and Iman Anderson were the other goal scorers, while Kayla Stone netted the Caledonians’ sole goal.
The Sonics won a thriller against Bayswater, with Tahnaya Puls (two goals) and Megan Neckel (one) finding the back of the net.
In the last quarterfinal fixture, scores were level at nil-all between Polonia and Rovers at the end of regulation time but Lucy McNamee bobbed up as the hero to score for Polonia in the dying stages, knocking the heartbroken Rovers out of the cup.
Mt Barker are set to face off against Polonia A in the first semifinal, while the Sonics and Denmark A will clash in the other semi to determine who reaches the final.
In the women’s division two cup quarterfinals, Shauna Hodkinson (two goals) and Kasie Guest (one) helped Rovers vanquish Grammar 3-0.
Denmark C took care of Mt Barker with a resounding 4-0 triumph.
Impressive goals from Rachel Cross and Claudia Lemann helped Polonia knock Denmark D out of the cup, 2-0.
In the division two cup semifinals, the Rovers will clash with Polonia and the Royals will face Denmark C.
In round 12 of the GSSA men’s division one competition on Saturday, Denmark upset the Rovers in a captivating contest.
There was an even spread of goal scorers as Cooper Gleeson, Nicholas Bahr-Pike and Kai Thrupp-Probst all hit the score sheet.
The Caledonians consolidated top spot with a comfortable 3-0 win over the Royals.
Bayswater held second-placed Polonia to a 1-all draw to round out the division one results.
In men’s division two, Phoenix overwhelmed the Rovers 4-2 while Polonia and Bayswater battled out a 1-1 draw.
