Jessica Jetta: More than $4000 in fines and prison time for stealing spree

An Albany woman who went on a stealing spree in Katanning and Albany has earned herself jail time and a hefty amount of fines. Jessica Gwen Jetta, 28, appeared in custody in Albany Magistrate’s Court on August 17, pleading guilty to three counts of no authority to drive (disqualified from holding or obtaining), five counts of stealing, one count of possession of a prohibited drug (cannabis), and one count of possessing drug paraphernalia. Police prosecutor Sgt Matt Hartfield told the court of Jetta’s numerous incidences of theft, including the stealing of $80 worth of items from Woolworths Katanning on January 7, concealing the stolen items in her jacket. That same day Jetta also stole $100 worth of Jack Daniel’s pre-mix from Clive Street BWS in Katanning. Caught on CCTV, Jetta stole a toolbox valued at $197 from Treendale Repco on January 22. About 8pm on January 29, Jetta was in Glen Iris where she stole about $100 worth of fuel, food and beverages. Jetta was captured driving on three separate occasions in June, using the explanation that she thought someone was in her house for her June 8 offence after she was stopped by police driving a Nissan Pathfinder with no registration plates displayed. Police also uncovered 2 grams of cannabis and a glass bong at Jetta’s home address on July 20 when a search warrant was executed for an unrelated matter. Jetta was represented by Raymond Muir who said Jetta was receiving Department of Corrections-facilitated visits with her children and was seeking custody for the school holidays Jetta was fined a total of $4466, a licence disqualification of 27 months, and nine months imprisonment. Jetta began crying in the dock saying “You always set me up to fail”.
