Ironmonger shares on-court wisdom

Albany Advertiser

Former Australian netballer Sally Ironmonger offered her expertise at a series of coaching clinics in Albany last weekend.

Ironmonger won a silver medal at the 1987 Netball World Cup in Glasgow and was part of the inaugural Perth Orioles team in 1997.

The former national player has recently been a State selector for the WA under-17 team while also coaching in the State Netball League.

The first clinic on Friday involved a number of local development squad coaches as Ironmonger shared her wisdom at the Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre. Ironmonger then ran a free clinic on Saturday morning with a focus on circle defence.

Clinic co-ordinator Jody Ironmonger said the clinics were well attended. “It went really well — she started with the basics and then got into strategy-based ideas,” she said.

“Everybody got a fair bit out of it.”
