Police are calling for information after the death of an Albany man who attended a charity concert at Centennial Stadium on Saturday. About 11.45pm on Saturday, a man was found unconscious outside the stadium function centre and was rushed to Albany Health Campus. It is understood he was found at the bottom of a tiered section outside the venue. The 29-year-old man died as a result of his injuries on Sunday morning. “A male person received injuries as a result of an incident at Centennial Park,” Albany Sen. Sgt Hugh Letessier said. “He was hospitalised because of his injuries and subsequently passed away the following morning because of his injuries. “It appears the last reported conscious sighting of the man was about 11pm. “We are looking to identify the circumstances behind this young man’s death.” Police confirmed the man had attended the fundraising concert Davestock. The concert, which raised funds for Albany Community Hospice, was sold out. “If there are any witnesses from the incident, we’d ask them to come forward,” Sen. Sgt Letessier said. “We are trying to establish the movements of the man and are keen to speak to anyone that observed him at the party or spoke to him. Anything would be of value to us. We are appealing for any information. At this stage we are preparing a report for the Coroner. “It’s important we speak to everyone we can because there are a lot of unknowns around this.” Police have visited the venue this week as part of their ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
