Infernos secure fourth straight win after knocking off the top of the table Railways

Infernos continued their rise up the standings in their inaugural season after making a big statement in the Albany Basketball Association men’s A-grade competition, beating Railways Tigers on Tuesday night. A dominant second half helped Infernos secure their fourth straight win and knock off the top of the table Railways by 21 points. Leading by six at half-time, Infernos scored the first 10 points after the break to open the game up and set up their fifth win of the season. With 10 minutes left the margin had ballooned out to a game-high 19 points after a Tyler Willmore lay-up and despite Railways reducing the margin back to 13 at one stage, Infernos finished with a flurry to walk away 70-49 victors. Infernos controlled the game from the start of play and never gave up the lead at any stage. Tyler Willmore continued his stellar season as he dropped 19 points, 12 of which came in the second half, and was a strong contributor at both ends while Tom Edwards was a welcomed inclusion as he added 16 points. Henry Alforque hit 18 points for Railways and Kane Shephard added 14 but their team fell to a second loss of the season. Ambassadors moved within one point of Railways on top of the ladder after a 27-point victory over The Sharks, led by Caleb Carman. After leading by 12 at half-time, Ambassadors outscored their opponents by 15 points in the second half to win 77-50. Carman was brilliant with 31 points in the win and Ryan Barber added 18 while Jake Louthean scored 20 points for the Sharks. Tigers notched their second win of the season after downing Raiders under-18 development squad, 65-48. Masion Tion top scored in the win with 18 points and Corey Hill added 15 for the winners. Denmark Magpies had a nine-point win over Sonics. After losing their previous three games, the Magpies won 56-47 to jump back into the top four. Luke Wilson (17 points) and Reagan Hutchinson (13) proved the difference in the end.
