People living with arthritis, carers and health professionals gathered in Albany on Friday for an informative expo aimed at helping people better understand and manage the condition.
About 80 people showed up at Carnaby’s Function and Leisure Centre to gain advice about arthritis from exercise physiologist Alana Andreotti, physiotherapist Eleno Evengelista and dietitian Bradley Mertens.
Services team leader of Arthritis and Osteoporosis WA Rhianna Figueiredo said the aim of this event was to point people to the right resources and teach them how to manage the condition.
“I think the big focus was on self-management, so it was helping people understand what they can do without having to rely on any particular person,” she said.
“Our focus is to connect people with resources and also teach them how to manage their condition.
“We want to help people understand how diet and exercise both play a part in arthritis.
“We’re here to spread awareness that people otherwise might not have access to.”
After the advice talks, attendees were able to mingle and chat with experts about the condition.
