IN PICTURES: Mt Lockyer Primary School gives back on National Tree Day

Mt Lockyer Primary School students got their hands dirty during National Schools Tree Day on Friday, helping to plant native seedlings on the banks of Lake Seppings. The Year 5 students joined schools across the country in the initiative which is held on the last Friday of July each year ahead of National Tree Day. Year 5 teacher Jacqui Essex said involving the students in the tree planting day allowed them to give back to their community. “I think it’s really good for them to learn about sustainability, and just get involved in community projects while they’re young,” Ms Essex said. The event was supported by the City of Albany and Albany Toyota, who provided the students with shirts, hats and gloves.
