The inaugural Albany Maritime Festival has started celebrations with a Menang Noongar Hub, dedicated to NAIDOC Week. The opening of the hub, situated at the Albany Boatshed, attracted families for a women’s weaving morning tea, community balga, children’s activities, and Dreamtime stories. This week, the hub has showcased cultural experiences run by Menang Noongar people. At 1pm today, there was traditional kangaroo and damper cooking demonstrations. This evening, the Kwongkan Middars will perform traditional dances.
