Surfing, crashing waves and plenty of cheers took over Middleton Beach on Saturday as a record number of young surfers hit the water for Albany Boardriders’ annual Junior Wavefest.
A total of 67 kids paddled out across the day, showing off their best skills and confidence in front of a crowd of family and friends.
Parents and grandparents lined the beach with coffees, cameras and plenty of encouragement as competitors of all ages tackled the swell.
From first time surfers to confident young riders carving through the waves, the beach was packed with energy and excitement all day.
