IN PICTURES: Hundreds turn out for Mt Barker Turf Club’s Grapes and Gallops

Wet morning conditions did little to deter a crowd of hundreds from turning out in their race day finest for Mt Barker Turf Club’s Grapes and Gallops on Sunday. As the rain made way for a fine summer’s day, the crowd flocked to the turf club for one of its calendar’s major social days. There was plenty of glamour, with Fashions on the Field competitions for the best-dressed child, man, teen and lady. Denise Poett was crowned the winner of the ladies’ fashions on the field, Mark George was the best-dressed man, Taysja Cronin was the best-dressed teen and Ava Alger was the best-dressed child. On the track, it was Cheval de Vaga who took out the $100,000 TABTOUCH Mt Barker Sprint. The seven-year-old was second past the post behind Kohli before an upheld protest resulted in the top three placings being altered.
