Hundreds showed up to the 2023 Vintage and Classic Motorcycle Weekend bike display lining Stirling Terrace on Saturday to admire about 400 motorcycles. Motorcycles ranged from a 1900 Oz Trike and 1911 Abingdon King Dick to 1975 Yamahas. Ken Rose detailed the journey of his 1927 Rudge-Whitworth which had travelled around the world before finally making its home in Australia. Event coordinator Charles Walmsley said the display peaked at about 400 motorcycles. “This is one of the best turnouts I think we’ve had,” he said. The display preceded the Hill Climb on Sunday which was open to motorcycles manufactured before 1980. Glen Oliver placed first on his 1926 Indian Scout, his second win after success in 2015. The motorcycle weekend will be back next year in what Mr Walmsley hopes will be a “bigger and better display”. “I’m really glad it went so well this year, particularly after being on hiatus last year,” he said.
