IN PICTURES: Great Southern Football League Women’s celebrates season by honouring competition's best players

It was a night to let down the hair, pour the drinks and celebrate the Great Southern Football League Women’s outstanding individuals across the region for the 2024 season. Classy-dressed players, coaches and executives across the league converged on Retravision Stadium on Saturday evening for the competition’s night of nights, the GSFLW Best and Fairest count. Star Denmark-Walpole midfielder Grace Dempster was declared the 2024 Best and Fairest after a stellar season for the Magpies, pipping Railways midfielder Kathryn Slattery and Royals utility Nardia Humphries for the gong in the final round of the season. Dempster clinched the award after a thrilling vote count with Nardia Humphries finishing second with 16 votes and Slattery (15) rounded out the top three. Mt Barker spearhead Mikayla Balloch won the competition’s leading goalkicker award after booting 20 majors across her nine home-and-away games, including bags of seven and four against North Albany. Magpie’s young gun Lucia Edwards was named best first-year player.
