IN PICTURES: Emergency service personnel take Middleton Beach plunge to raise $5000 for Special Olympics WA

Plunging into the water from Middleton Beach Jetty on a brisk spring Sunday morning has raised $5000 for Special Olympics WA. Four teams of participants, largely made up of police officers and other emergency service personnel, took their turns to dive into the water in near-perfect conditions. A Special Olympics torch was lit before the event and led the brave jumpers towards Ellen Cove and down the jetty. Each dive into the water resulted in loud applause from those watching on as participants scrambled to get out of the water to wrap themselves in towels as quickly as possible. The money raised will go towards helping Special Olympics WA athletes with intellectual disabilities by providing more sporting programs, events, equipment, sports coaches and medals.
