Residents came out in force to celebrate 100 years since the official opening of the Young Sidings Community Hall on Saturday. Between 200 and 300 people were in attendance for the celebration, which took place one day after the hall’s official 100th anniversary on Friday. Those in attendance had been asked to bring a plate of food, ensuring there was plenty of variety to the spread on offer for dinner in between stories shared of days gone by. Live music performed by Slap My Thighs and Call Me Barbara, and The Harmonix ensured the hall’s floorboards were always full of dancers. Before the celebrations, Youngs Siding Community Hall chairwoman Heather Marr told the Advertiser the committee wanted to make sure the hall was fit for use well into the future.
