IN PICTURES: Carolers brave blustery Albany conditions for the Apex Carols by Candlelight at Middleton Beach

Music filled the air of Middleton Beach last weekend at the 70th annual Apex Carols by Candlelight as around 300 carolers braved the blustery Albany conditions. Held on the grass adjacent to Albany Surf Life Saving Club, the carols ran from 6pm onwards. The City of Albany Band and the Albany Choral society led carolers in renditions of popular Christmas carols. There was also a sausage sizzle, a visit from Santa and plenty of singing, all set the backdrop of a windy Albany sunset. The Carols returned to Middleton Beach this year after being relocated to the Allison Hartman gardens in the centre of town due to COVID 19. Apex Club of Albany president Michael Gilmartin said that despite trying conditions, it was a good turnout. “I was surprised how many people weathered the conditions to come down,” he said. Club treasurer Adrian Staratico said people were happy the carols had returned to Middleton Beach this year.
