IN PICTURES: Annual Footy Stars Weekend a big winner for Albany Hospice

Albany Hospice’s biggest annual fundraising event of the year went ahead without a hitch over two big days at the weekend. Brownlow Medallist and inaugural West Coast Eagles captain Ross Glendinning was the guest of honour for the Annual Footy Stars weekend which featured a dinner at Motel Le Grande on Saturday night followed by a big day of action at Albany Golf Club on Sunday. Glendinning and event regular Glen Jakovich entertained the crowd with stories from their football careers at the dinner in between items being auctioned off for the good cause. Spits of rain as players prepared to tee off on Sunday failed to dampen spirits as clouds quickly made way for the sun. Once the 36 teams of four made their way around the 18 holes they headed to the clubhouse where Glendinning and Jakovich again turned entertainers and auctioneers — including selling a Christmas cake for $950. Organisers said a final tally of what was raised on the weekend would be finalised later this week.
