IN PICTURES: Albany’s Boxing Day Races once again prove popular with punters

Albany’s annual Boxing Day Race event was once again a big winner with punters as a huge crowd flocked trackside last week. Thousands thronged Percy Spencer Racecourse for the Albany Racing Club’s marquee social event of the season on Monday, December 26. The event is used as a festive get-together for many in the Great Southern and this was again the case, as punters young and old got dressed up to embrace the festivities. Some had a punt on a lucky number or the horse of their choice while others simply soaked up the sunshine on the grass and the festive race day atmosphere. There was plenty of glamor and and snappy dressing and even three mates dressed in matching pineapple outfits. A big crowd stayed on course after the final race was run before dancing the night away to popular local band Pinstripe who played on a stage on the grass as the sun went down. Albany trainer Roy Rogers was a dominant force on the track, winning five of the seven races on the day.
