IN PICTURES: Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre draws hundreds for Great Southern Basketball Carnival

Hundreds of avid young basketballers from across the State gathered at Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre at the weekend for the Great Southern Basketball Carnival. The carnival brought players from as far as the Kimberley to Albany to encourage and promote improved health among Indigenous Australians. More than 400 children in 72 basketball teams played across nine divisions in the round-robin tournament before knockout finals were held on Sunday. ALAC hosted a range of health organisations, including St John and Asthma WA, allowing players to get advice and participate in health activities. Players, spectators and families learnt new avenues of accessing health organisations in remote and regional areas and were given health passports to be stamped to promote their engagement.
