IN PICTURES: Fun, flight and flashes of colour at the 2022 Albany Kite Fiesta

The Albany Kite Fiesta returned for its 10th year on Sunday — and there was more than enough wind to keep the kites flying high. Organised by veteran kite designer Michael Alvares, the event ran for about six hours, with intermittent drizzle failing to stop the fun at Anzac Peace Park. Some families brought kites with them to the waterfront, while others purchased box kite kits on the day. Mr Alvares dropped dried fruit from the sky for children to collect — a departure from his usual choice of lollies. The healthy switch was in line with the Go for 2 & 5 message promoted by event sponsor Healthway. As always, the giant whale shark kite was a favourite with the young ones.
