Hundreds joined Broomehill locals at their Spring Bloom Markets to officially launch the 2024 Bloom Festival

Hundreds joined a Great Southern town for the official 2024 Bloom Festival launch, marking a massive effort from the small community’s first Spring Bloom Markets. Between 450 to 500 people journeyed from Katanning, Gnowangerup, Albany to Bunbury, Mandurah and Perth to see the Broomehill Spring Bloom Markets on September 22 where more than 30 local stalls were set up along India Street from 11am to 3pm. After experiencing the delicious Great Southern produce, arts, and crafts the markets offered, guests explored Broomehill’s Holland Park and Sheridan Gardens in full bloom. Minang Traditional Dancers wowed onlookers with their performance followed by Albany Contemporary Dance. Live music with RnB Soul Train had guests break into their own boogie alongside activities with Circus WA. Shire of Broomehill-Tambellup chief executive Karen Callaghan said the community had not seen as many attendees at previous events and it is not only “a significant economic boost” but “showcases our beautiful towns”. “I am very proud of the day and thank the Great Southern Treasures for their support to make the launch of Bloom a success,” she said. “It is a very positive boost of exposure for our shire as we commence progressing some significant projects in our area to attract more visitors. “It is a great start to what is a very exciting lineup, showcasing the diversity and beauty of our Great Southern region.”
