So far, the Ultimate Schnitzel challenge at Ibis Styles Albany has left everyone who has attempted the 1kg meal swallowing their pride.

The phrase ‘eyes bigger than your stomach’ will spring to mind when the mammoth plate of parmigiana style schnitzel is placed on the table.

Ibis Styles Albany general manager Adam Talbot said that the promotion will be kept at the price of $29, a reasonable price for the meal easily double the size of many standard parmigianas.

“People suggested that we make it free for those who finish it, but we didn’t want to have to bump up the price of it to compensate,” he said.

“This way more people get a crack at it, but no one has managed to finish it yet.

“For those who can’t quite picture the massive meal, it is really a lot of chicken.

“It’s just a bit of fun for people - come not out to our restaurant and give it a go.”

The mouthwatering meal can be made from beef, chicken or a combo of both.

Many locals may know the restaurant by its former name The Country Manner.

The competition will run until February when the restaurant undergoes a rebranding and makeover to a modern twist styled steakhouse called Angus and Co.

The large capacity restaurant is open for dinner seven days a week from 5:30pm to 8:30pm and daily for breakfast from 6:30am to 9am weekdays and 7am to 10am on weekends.
