Albany junior cyclist Riley Heslop has returned home from the annual Cycling Australia Road National in Ballarat from January 8-12 with solid results.

Heslop was one of 39 WA riders to take the trip across the Nullarbor to take on the best riders in Australia, and arguably the world, across the five days of competition.

The Albany junior competed in the under-19 category, taking part in individual time trial on the first day before competing in road race later in the week.

On day one, Heslop competed against 44 riders in the under-19 ITT, finishing more than four minutes off the leader, and was credited with 30th position.

Heslop took part in a gruelling 104km road race against 85 riders, 46 of whom did not finish the race.

Heslop crossed the line in 32nd position, just over 13 minutes behind winner Declan Trezise.
