Hat-trick from James Naylor helps Polonia snatch come-from-behind win over Rovers in men’s division two comp

Polonia notched their first win of the season with a brilliant come-from-behind triumph over Rovers in the Great Southern Soccer Association men’s division two competition on Saturday afternoon. Rovers went into the first half 2-1 up courtesy of goals from Bradley Chapman and Michael Slattery but a hat-trick from Polonia’s James Naylor and a strike from Jason Wilson handed the Rovers their third defeat of the season, as they coughed up the advantage and went down 4-2 at full-time. Phoenix, fresh off an 8-1 thrashing of Royals last week, carried some of their hot form over into their round-four fixture against Caledonians. A first-half finish from Corey Plug was enough to hand Caledonians their first loss of the season, with the match ending 1-0. In women’s division two competition, Denmark C put together a terrific second half effort to beat sister side Denmark D, 3-2, as Jetta England-Wong, Vendula Jesslova and Jessica Kinder all contributed one goal each in the hard-fought victory. Grammar notched their first win of the season in a 3-2 thriller against Rovers in the other women’s division two game while Mt Barker and Polonia’s game was called off due to COVID implications. In the men’s social division 3/4, Baysie Masters defeated Bayswater Social 3-0, Rovers Social got on top of Polonia Social in a tight 4-3 contest, Phoenix Social smashed Grammar Griffins Men 17-1, and Old Boys thumped Sonics Social 7-0.
