Welcome to the 2023 season in the Great Southern Football League Women’s competition.

We look forward to the six clubs playing on Friday evenings and seeing the continued improvement of skills across the competition.

This season we start with a triple header at Retravision Stadium and look forward to a big crowd attending to kick off the new competition.

Teams have been training for a number of weeks now preparing themselves for the weeks ahead and we wish them all the best.

Kathleen Mier is our director of women’s football this season and we welcome her back to the executive.

Her experience and knowledge of football is second to none and thanks to outgoing director Alex Fry for his role in the women’s game.

Umpiring co-ordinator Ryan Tindale is assembling a panel of umpires ready to be involved this season, which we are truly grateful for their time and energy.

I believe the standard of football is always better with quality umpiring and especially when players just concentrate on playing the game.

Sponsorship is very important for the clubs and league to sustain their involvement here in the Great Southern, so when you have the opportunity please support wherever you can.

To Cam Newbold, Laurie Benson and Calvin Sims at the Albany Advertiser we thank you for your support of women’s football. It is surely the envy of other leagues.

I wish all the players and teams the very best for the GSFLW season ahead.
