GSFLW 2024: Festival of football marks Pride Round celebrations on Saturday with three rounds of action

The Great Southern Football League Women’s competition is gearing up for a nine-game festival of footy to mark Pride Round celebrations on Saturday. Nine games of two 18-minute halves will be played in rounds six, seven and eight in Albany collectively as Pride Round with the first matches bouncing down at 11am. The “celebration of women’s football” extravaganza hosted at Retravision Stadium will be a carnival-like atmosphere featuring music, food and drinks and events to entertain spectators. Players will also take part in novelty events to engage the crowd including the longest kick competition and a 100m sprint. Numerous community and service-based organisations will be set up for the day to provide information about the Pride events. Heading into this week’s fixtures Mt Barker are the competition pacesetters with four wins and one loss, with Albany breathing down their necks on an equal record. Railways sit third with three wins and two losses while Denmark-Walpole and reigning premiers Royals are fourth and fifth respectively with two wins and three losses each. North Albany are chasing their first win of the season and sit last.
