GSFL take charge of investigation into walk-off in Mt Barker colts fixture

The Great Southern Football League has confirmed it is now investigating the colts fixture between Mt Barker and Railways on August 30, in which the Bulls colts team walked from the ground with about five minutes left to play in the final term. The Bulls colts players came together near their coaches dugout late in the fourth quarter and their entire team walked up the race and away from the ground and did not return. Initially the Mt Barker Football Club were dealing with the incident but that responsibility has been handed back to the GSFL. GSFL president Joe Burton confirmed this week a private investigator had been appointed to look into the incident and claims being made by one of the parties. The investigation is set to be completed this week and Burton said the league would review the findings and make a decision on what to do from that. “Due to some complications with the incident, the league has decided to have the game and the whole thing investigated,” Burton said. “It is unfortunate that two weeks has gone since the incident happened but we want it dealt with properly and get the right outcome for footy.” Mt Barker Football Club president Dean Wallinger said the club would comment after it had been dealt with next week.
