GSFL 2023: Mt Barker’s Daniel Patching polls perfect 10 for second week in a row to stay clear of Albany duo

Dominant Albany duo Isaac Baum and Jack Beeck were both rewarded for their top performances in the Sharks’ historic win over Railways but they didn’t close the gap to Daniel Patching in the 2023 GSFL Coaches’ Player of the Year Award. Mt Barker’s Patching continued his superb start to the season, polling a perfect 10 in the Bulls’ win over North Albany. It was the second week in a row that the midfielder has collected 10 votes and leaves him on top of the leaderboard with 28. Baum and Beeck were both crucial to the Sharks downing the Tigers for the first time ever and they each polled nine votes. Tigers coach Mark Bayliss gave Baum top votes while Sharks coach Jamie Ramm sided with Beeck as the most influential player. Baum is second on the leaderboard with 25 votes and Beeck shot to 18 while their teammate Brett Peake is fourth on 15 despite not polling in round four. Tigers’ Joel Want (14 votes) rounds out the top five while returning Bulls gun Zach Jackson has quickly risen up the standings and has 13 votes. Nine votes in Royals’ mauling of Denmark-Walpole took Corey Ward to double figures while Stephen Beal picked up eight votes for his standout display in the ruck.
