GSFL 2023: Logan Stubber focused on more premiership success ahead of 150th game for Tigers in grand final

Talented Railways midfielder Logan Stubber says there is nothing more he wants than to celebrate his 150th game with a premiership medallion around his neck. The 2019 Kleemann medallist will run out in his 150th league game for the Tigers, when they face Albany in the Great Southern Football League grand final at Sounness Park on Saturday. Stubber will be chasing a fourth league premiership, having been part of the Tigers’ win in 2013 and then playing a key role in their 2021 triumph over Royals and last year’s flag victory over the Sharks. The 27-year-old was set to reach the milestone at the end of the regular season but he missed a couple of weeks with a knee injury. Stubber said it was a weird feeling preparing to play his 150th in the biggest game of the season but said he was focused on getting the ultimate success once again. “It is a bit of a funny one, a milestone game in a grand final,” he said. “As long as we come away with the silverware that’s all I’m focused on. “To win a third straight grand final and to make a bit of history for the club would be great and to do it in a milestone match would make it that bit more special.” In 2019 during his brilliant season than landed the GSFL’s highest individual honour, Stubber suffered an anterior cruciate ligament and missed the entire 2020 season. Stubber has won two Tigers league best-and-fairest awards and said it had been a wonderful ride to 150 games. “It’s been a good journey and a bit of a long one to get here,” Stubber said. “Playing 150 is not easy and you never know which game will be your last. “I’m happy and privileged to play 150 games at Railways.” Stubber declared he was ready for battle despite his recent knee injury and believed it would take the Tigers’ absolute best to claim a flag three-peat. “The Sharks were minor premiers for a reason,” he said. “They have got some quality players and we’ll have to stop a couple of those to win the game. “Our team is pumped up and there has been a really good feeling around the club the last couple of weeks.”
