GSFL 2023: Eight votes in round five enough to shoot Sharks’ Isaac Baum to top of coaches’ votes leaderboard

Another terrific performance from Albany’s Isaac Baum has shot him to the top of the standings in the 2023 GSFL Coaches’ Player of the Year Award. Baum is five votes clear on top of the leaderboard after five rounds, following his superb game against Mt Barker last week. The midfield-forward polled eight votes to move to 33 in total. Sharks teammate and former WAFL player Jack Beeck collected the perfect 10 in that game, pushing him to equal second. Beeck now has 28 votes to his name, joining Bulls’ Daniel Patching while Zach Jackson in his return to the GSFL competition is now on 17 votes. Railways bull Jayden Scott picked up nine votes in his side’s crushing win over Denmark-Walpole at McLean Park in round five, jumping to 15 votes. In Sunday’s fixture between North Albany and Royals, the Lions dominated voting after their second win of the season. Coaches Brad Bootsma and Andrew Ruck were split on the best player on the ground, with Brayden Parker and Joel Flick both collecting nine votes. Parker received five from Bootsma while Flick earned top votes from Ruck. Nathan Crudeli was the pick of the Kangas and polled six, his first votes of the season.
