The competition’s hopes that Railways will be brought back to the pack this Albany Cricket Association A-grade season could eventuate, with star batsman Mitch Green leaving the club to join Royals.

Green will join the bottom side in a major shake-up of the competition after being the Tigers’ leading run scorer last season and being part of their fifth-straight A-grade premiership.

Despite the Tigers’ strong batting line-up on paper, only Green and captain Zane Marwick scored more than 250 runs for the season, with Green’s omission set to provide more opportunity at the top of the order.

Instead, it was up to the Tigers’ efforts in the field and disciplined bowling line-up, which led them to success again, according to Marwick, who will lead the side for a fourth season.

The Tigers’ skipper ensured his side’s work ethic would remain strong.

“The boys are excited to get the season started,” he said.

“A lot of hard work needs to be done over the next six months to ensure we compete again. I’m excited to see some young and new faces play a big role.”

Green and batsman Liam Want (Gingin) leave the Tigers premiership team, while spinner Aubin Spurr will play for Claremont-Nedlands and batsman Jacob Blight has moved to Wesley College.

All-rounder Mark Natale rejoins the Tigers having last played in 2016-17, while young left-arm orthodox spinner Hasnain Nawaz will be a welcome addition from English club Stourbridge.

Tigers all-rounder Nathan Crudeli returns after a summer playing for Stourbridge bringing the young spinner with him.
