GSFLW 2024: GSFL director Kathleen Mier insists the upcoming season is a must-watch

The upcoming Great Southern Football League Women’s season is an exciting time for players and supporters alike. As the sport continues to gain popularity, more attention is being given to women’s football, and the upcoming season promises to be filled with close matches and talented athletes highlighting their skills on the field. Spectators can expect to see some fierce competition as teams vie for the top spot at the end of the season. As each year goes on, players are continuously improving leading to higher-quality games. In addition to the on-field action, the upcoming season also provides an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of female athletes and the growing presence of women in football. It’s a chance to support and uplift women in sports and to promote inclusivity and equality in the football community. It is also an opportunity to see youth and mothers playing football and enjoying the comradeship of a team sport. Round one will be played in Denmark on Saturday, February 3, with the first game bouncing down at 2pm with all clubs playing at the same venue. The GSFL has introduced a round-robin fixture named Pride Round which will have three rounds (six to eight) played on Saturday, March 9, at Retravison Stadium on the inside and outside ovals. We are hoping to create a carnival-type atmosphere for the day. Overall, the upcoming women’s season holds great promise for clubs, players and spectators and it’s sure to be a fantastic showcase of how far the sport has grown in the region.
