Great Southern Classic car show to transport guests back to the 1950s
More than 100 classic cars will line Strickland Street in Denmark next week to celebrate the return of the Great Southern Classic car show.
For a gold coin donation, attendees will have the chance to enjoy family-friendly activities, soak in the sights and be transported back to the 1950s on Sunday, September 26.
Special guests Elvis and Priscilla Presley will be performing with The Blue Sueders band and rocknroll dancers as part of the entertainment.
The event was cancelled last year because of COVID-19.
After the challenge of the past 18 months, one of the main concerns for organisers this year is the weather.
They want to see blue skies when the fun kicks off at 10am.
“You’ve got a really family-friendly atmosphere,” promotion and marketing officer Belinda Rowland said.
“You’re going to have Priscilla and Elvis, a band of the era with music and we’re going to have activities on the river.
“It’s going ahead and we’re looking for good weather.”
Colin Sainty’s 1958 Chevrolet Biscayne will be on display at the event.
He said it was a car that “turned heads”.
