Claremont colts coach Ross McQueen said it was an easy decision to play 12 Great Southern products in his team that crushed Perth by 65 points on Saturday.

The Tigers fielded every fit Great Southern player on their list, nine in total, and also bring in three local players from the GSFL to make their WAFL colts debut.

Tom Baldwin, Tom Wolfe and Jye Clark were named among the best players while Nelson Kent, Clark, Hayden Parker and Kalin Lane all kicked goals.

Also the captain, Baldwin was superb in midfield and is likely to get an opportunity in seniors in the coming weeks.

Clark continues his terrific season in winning a stack of the ball and Wolfe had his best impact game of the season.

McQueen said to bring Great Southern players back to the region they started in was a terrific concept.

“It’s a great thing for the kids from the area,” McQueen said.

“We obviously came to win, but its bigger picture us.

“For these kids to play at home in a Claremont jumper is bigger than winning.

“A lot have moved out of home and come to the city which is a big thing so being back here you could tell they were a lot more comfortable.

“Claremont is very focused on promoting from within and this commitment (to the Great Southern) is pretty important to us.”

Lane displayed potential with a strong display in the ruck, winning the hit outs and showing encouraging follow up work.

Gowdie took a couple of solid marks playing forward and Pearce was playing through the midfield and on a wing.

Tom Wolfe (Railways), Tom Baldwin (Jerramungup & Royals), Anthony Davis (Borden), Jye Clark (Railways), Jacob Blight (Railways), Kieran Gowdie (Albany), Hayden Parker (Jerramungup, Railways & Denmark-Walpole), Ted Batchelor (North Albany), Kalin Lane (Denmark-Walpole), Alex Pearce (North Albany), Nelson Kent (Railways) and Rivah Bocian (Royals) made up the Great Southern representation while Nic Finlay (Royals) missed through injury but was the team runner.
