Fremantle Dockers coach Justin Longmuir to star at Albany Community Hospice Footy Weekend
Two of WA’s best-known football figures will be making their way down Albany Highway this weekend to raise money for the Albany Community Hospice.
West Coast Eagles premiership champion Glenn Jakovich and Fremantle Dockers coach Justin Longmuir will headline the 11th edition of Albany’s annual Footy Stars Weekend.
On Saturday, the star duo will attend a gala sports dinner and auction at Motel Le Grande.
The next day, they will play at a charity golf event at Albany Golf Club, which is already sold out.
Jakovich is a mainstay of the annual footy stars fundraiser in Albany and he brings another WA football champion with him each year.
After John Worsfold, Mark LeCras and Josh Kennedy in the previous three years, Longmuir could be a welcome change for Fremantle Dockers fans.
The weekend supports Albany Community Hospice, which relies on community support to provide quality end-of-life care to patients at no cost to them or their families.Event organiser Todd McGregor said he hoped the 2021 event would break the single-weekend fundraising record set in 2018.
“With the inclusion of a current senior AFL coach, Justin Longmuir from the Fremantle Dockers as our special guest this year, we are hoping to break the record previously set by Josh Kennedy of the Eagles,” he said.
