For the first time in the Albany and Districts Tennis League both A-grade and B-grade had mixed doubles

The third leg of the Albany and Districts Tennis League featuring doubles matches was held at the Lawley Park Tennis Club on Sunday. For the first time in the league, both A-grade and B-grade had mixed doubles and matches were played in ideal conditions. In all, 34 players took part in the third event in the league run by OnCourt Tennis, with nine teams in A-grade and eight teams in the B-grade. Round robin qualifications were played, followed by a main draw and consolation final. Les Bairstow and Clare King walked away victorious in the A-grade main draw final, defeating Kat Myburgh and Eileen Bairstow six games to two. In the consolation final, the pairing of Jordan Heil and Nicky Thompson edged out Deb Mancini and Sam Graham. Heil and Thompson prevailed 6-4 in an exciting final. Trevor Scott and Jackie Brennan defeated Andrew Sharpe and Louise Nolan in the B-grade main draw final, winning seven games to five. Manea and Lee O’Dell finished comfortable winners over Jane Levett and Brad Hall in the B-grade consolation final, 6-2. The fourth leg of the league will be on played on Sunday, March 21.
