Tim EdmundsAlbany Advertiser

Five Great Southern Football League players have made the final cut to represent CBH Group Country Colts at Fremantle Oval on Friday under lights.

Royals trio Tom Baldwin, Hamish McMorran and Ben Watson, North Albany wingman Corey Hitchcock and Albany ruckman Stewart Davies were selected in the final squad of 23 for the annual clash against the WA Amateur Football League colts.

The squad was cut from 40 players of 20 years of age and under from country WA. Following Friday’s match, they will take on the State 16s Academy on June 10.

North Albany midfielder Matt Orzel played in the first WA State Country trial match last Saturday against the State 18s.

Teammate Jack McPhee, Mt Barker’s Daniel Parker and Railways’ Zane Marwick will get the opportunity this Friday to push for selection in the second trial match. Mt Barker product Ben Saunders will represent WA for the third time this Saturday when the WAFL clash with Victoria at North Port Oval in Melbourne.

The interstate clash will be telecast on Channel 7 at 12.10pm on Saturday.
