Fireworks to welcome 2018

Jessica CuthbertAlbany Advertiser

The Albany community is encouraged to see out 2017 at the City of Albany’s New Year’s Eve Picnic and Fireworks this Sunday.

The New Year’s Eve event will be celebrated at the Anzac Peace Park. Crowds will be entertained with live music, Jamie the Clown and workshops by Natural Wings.

Food vendors will be on hand and the highlight of the night will be the two firework shows to celebrate the start of 2018.

Albany Mayor Dennis Wellington encouraged all Albany residents and visitors to gather their friends and family, grab a picnic basket and a blanket, and to make their way down to Anzac Peace Park on December 31 for a wonderful family night out.

“The New Year’s Eve fireworks event is always a safe, family-friendly event and I’m excited that this year we have additional entertainment and food vendors,” he said.

“We’ve had a fabulous year in Albany and we look forward to celebrating it with our community.”
