Final quarter goal hands Manypeaks draw against North Albany and helps them move clear on top

Manypeaks edged one point clear on top of the Lower Great Southern Hockey Association men’s A-grade ladder after drawing in their round eight contest with North Albany on Saturday. It was the only men’s A-grade fixture played in the region, with the other game rescheduled while the women’s A-grade had a bye due to Country Championships in Perth. Peaks went into the game on equal points with Spencer Park on the ladder but jumped one point ahead after their second draw of the season. The Redbacks found the back of the net first through Daniel Millston before Mitch Bradbury hit back for Peaks with a field goal in the second quarter to level the score. Pieter Coetzee then converted not long after with a field goal to give his side the lead back before half-time. However Peaks came again and tied up the scores in the last quarter with Bradbury scoring again. Neither team was able to break the deadlock from there and the match ended in a 2-2 draw. Bradbury was superb for Peaks netting a brace, while Hayden Mills and Chris Metcalfe were also vital in the result. Robert Stan-Bishop was pivotal for Redbacks along with Hamish Wilkes and Coetzee. Redbacks have six points from eight matches. The game between Spencer Park and Vikings will be played on August 14.
