Estimated $4.4 million Berridge Park concept plan overhaul approved by council
A $4.4 million concept plan to redevelop the youth precinct at Denmark’s Berridge Park has received the tick of approval from the council.
The redesigned precinct will include a skate park, basketball court, toilet block, barbecue and shelter area and a new inclusive play area.
Existing mature trees loved by the Denmark community will be retained.
Input from the community was taken on board by the Denmark Shire Council through design workshops and a survey.
Shire president Kingsley Gibson said the maintenance of aged infrastructure was a costly exercise.
“We’ll be working as hard as we can to secure funding to get this project moving because we know how much of a positive impact it could have on our community in the years ahead,” he said.
“The concept design is just that — a concept — but if we are successful in our funding applications, the revitalised park will still be recognisable with all the mature trees and bush retained with some exciting new and accessible features slotted in for us all to enjoy.”
The council is now seeking funding for the project to make it a reality.
