Albany detectives are treating a blaze in Orana as suspicious after a granny flat went up in flames on Monday night following reports of a ground-shaking explosion. Emergency services were called to the Orana property on South Coast Highway after a disturbance was reported to police at 6.48pm. Not long after, nearby residents posting to social media reported hearing a loud bang with enough force to shake their homes. Veronica Koster, who resides in Orana, said she “heard it and felt it” while Tania Carr, also in Orana, said it “shook my windows and house”. Albany Detective Senior Sergeant Drew Reeder said the explosion is being treated as suspicious and investigations are ongoing. Mr Reeder said the occupants of the home were all accounted for and safe, including two dogs who were rescued from the fire.
