Smart four-year-old Dynabelle has been spelled after her second win in only four career starts, making light work of her rivals in the XXXX Gold Handicap (1100m) at Percy Spencer Racecourse on Saturday afternoon.

Dynabelle was an impressive maiden winner at her second career outing in Pinjarra back in December and raced without luck when finishing fourth to Splash in Bunbury on Christmas Eve before starting a $2.10 favourite in Albany.

Jockey Mitchell Pateman settled the four-year-old towards the tail of the field from barrier 10 before sprinting clear with a powerful turn of foot in the home straight, downing Poldark’s Girl by 1¾ lengths at the line.

Prepared in Myalup by Michael Campbell, the four-year-old will enjoy a break now before returning to tackle some mares feature races at metropolitan level.

“She won well at her second start and then had a few issues at her third start but she’s a progressive mare,” Campbell said.

“She is going to have a short break now. She’s got a couple of minor issues, but nothing major, and then come back for some mares races in Perth.

“I’ve had to be very patient with her but the track is good in Albany and the race was there so that’s why I brought her down.”

Pateman finished with a riding double after also partnering Dr Sykes but he was given a 10-day careless riding suspension for interference caused on Puck Shapeshifter in race 6.

Committed to riding local hope Dream Lifter in Sunday’s $100,000 Mungrup Stud Sprint (1300m) at Mt Barker, Pateman was granted permission by stewards to start the ban after the sprint feature.

Meanwhile, Bunbury galloper Big Caroline is a chance to contest next month’s $100,000 Fitzpatrick Plate in Albany after the Amazing Albany Handicap (1230m) win.

The Peter and Matt Giadresco-trained mare burst clear in the straight to notch a second win in four starts.
