Dylan Paul Keith Hill: Albany man charged after early morning police pursuit ends with crash into tree

A man has been charged with leading Albany police on a pursuit and driving without a licence after an early morning incident last week that police say ended when he crashed into a tree. Dylan Paul Keith Hill, 33, appeared in custody at Albany Magistrates Court on Thursday, July 13, after police were involved in a pursuit about 1.50am that morning. He was charged with reckless driving to escape pursuit by police, an aggravated charge of failing to comply with a direction to stop and no authority to drive. Mr Hill was read the charges during the hearing but no pleas were taken. Police prosecutor Sgt Warrick Walker told the court Mr Hill was driving a Mitsubishi Pajero in Orana when he failed to comply with an order to stop from patrolling police officers and “drove away at speed” as they followed him with their lights and sirens on. The court heard that the pursuit ended when Mr Hill crashed into a tree on Marbelup Road. He was removed from the car and arrested by the officers, who later found that Mr Hill’s driver’s licence was suspended. Defence lawyer Lucy Bourne made an application for Mr Hill to be released on bail, which Magistrate Dianne Scaddan granted. Mr Hill was subject to a $2000 surety and $2000 personal undertaking, has to report to Albany police station three times a week and live at an address in Mt Melville.
