Double triumph for tournament hosts

Albany Bowling Club teams claimed two out of three divisions at the Lower Great Southern Bowls League men’s pennant tournament at the weekend.

The Albany Highway club hosted teams from across the region on Saturday.

Albany Gold won the first division title, posting 67 to Middleton Beach Gold’s 61 in the grand final.

Albany Gold qualified for the grand final after defeating Denmark in the qualifying match, while Middleton Beach knocked off Mt Barker Gold to reach the final round.

In second division, Middleton Beach Black (66) defeated Walpole (54) at Emu Point Bowling Club, while in third division, Albany White (66) pipped Mt Barker (49).
