Another strong attendance was on court for the third event of the Albany and Districts Tennis League at Lawley Park Tennis Club, as men’s and ladies’ doubles games were played on Sunday.

There were 46 players in the doubles event, the last leg until February.

Ross Truscott and Les Bairstow won the men’s A-grade honours, decided in round robin format, as they played consistent tennis throughout and finished undefeated.

Young pair Jarrod Capararo and Nelson Stanborough won a countback to be runners-up, edging out Vincent Brochard and Dan Burke by one game.

The competition was tight during the ladies’ A-grade games but Clare King and Lilly Wilsher made it to the final and won 6-2 over rivals Alex Riggall and Katie Stan-Bishop.

The ladies’ A-grade consolation final was won by Jackie Brennan and Deb Mancini after beating Sam Lubcke and Claire Payne in an entertaining affair, 6-3.

Jordan Heil and Barry Atkinson won the men’s B-grade final 6-2 over Trevor Scott and Ken Pears.

Mark Wilsher and Gerry Skinner downed Tony Jones and Brad Hopperton to claim the consolation final 6-3.

The fourth event of the six-leg series will consist of doubles and will be played on Sunday, February 2.
