Double joy for legal eagles

Albany Advertiser

An Albany law firm has been recognised with State awards twice in one week.

HHG Legal Group managing director Simon Creek was presented with the Law Society of WA Lawyer of the Year award in the more than five years experience category at the annual awards night last Thursday.

Mr Creek was recognised for his commitment to pro bono projects and charitable work, which followed on from the firm receiving the Attorney-General’s Community Service Law Award earlier in the week.

HHG Legal Group’s years of dedication to pro bono work and community service dating back to the early 1900s was recognised from the short list of nine nominated finalists.

Fellow HHG director Murray Thornhill accepted the award on behalf of the firm. The award was presented by Attorney-General John Quigley at the annual Law Society Breakfast on Monday.

Mr Quigley said HHG was a worthy winner.

“HHG Legal Group's strong commitment to pro bono work includes providing free legal advice to hundreds of people living with cancer through the Cancer Council of WA,” he said.

“The company also offers free community legal clinics in three locations, open to any member of the community on a limited basis.”
