Gary Higgs powered to an impressive win in round seven of the Super Sedans WA Summer Series in Albany on Saturday night.

The event also doubled as round five of the West Coast Series for Formula 500s, dominated by the in-form Cody Turacchio.

In the Super Sedans Gary Higgs started the 20-lap feature race alongside his son Dustin, who was the race leader for the first half.

Gary Higgs, the current State champion, took the lead on lap 12 and held off Phil Barton and Rob Knox for a strong win.

He crossed the line 1.261sec. ahead of Barton, while Knox was close behind in third place.

Kyle Larson and Bryce Fisher rounded out the top five while an electrical caused the demise of Dustin Higgs, who finished in seventh.

Dustin Higgs had built a strong lead but slowed with the problem, bringing on the yellow lights, which relegated him to the rear of the field.

Barton won the hard charger award and Rab Hambley received the encouragement award.

Earlier Dustin Higgs won three heat races, Gary Higgs was successful in two, and the other preliminary went to Knox.

Meanwhile, Turacchio’s terrific form in the West Coast Series continued as he won his fifth feature in as many rounds.

Turacchio won both his qualifying heats and claimed the pole shootout from Thomas Davies to start the 20-lap decider on the front row.

He immediately raced to the lead at the start of the final, and from there was never headed, going on to cross the line well clear of his nearest rivals.

Turacchio finished 9.716sec. ahead of Chris Dymock, who had had a terrific battle with Davies for the minor placings.

Davies was third across the line, while Brendon Marshman and Ryan Anthony rounded out the top five.

Earlier, Jamie Pages and Dymock won the other two heat races.
