Deserving All Star combo
Dominant ruckman Stuart Parker and ball winner Kane Shephard were stand-outs for the Great Southern Football League at the 2019 Landmark Country Football Championships in Perth.
It was no surprise the pair earned selection in the Landmark Country All Stars, picked by a panel of selectors that were spread across the three senior divisions over the four-day championships.
Parker gave his GSFL midfield silver platter service for the majority of the carnival, with his developing tap work a highlight in the four matches.
Shephard, in his first championships for the GSFL, was superb in the three qualifying games, racking up possessions at will through midfield and kicked a couple of outstanding goals as well when resting forward.
GSFL coach Craig Dew praised the pair for their performances.
“Stu has got some upside, doesn’t he,” Dew said.
“He’s only three or four years into his football really, and is pretty raw but very exciting.
“Shep is a 70m player with his run and carry and his clearance work is so good, he really knows how to find the footy.”
